The Plains Indian Cradleboard
A beautiful cradleboard signed and numbered 5/300 Coyote Woman 1992. "Little Beaver Dancer"

~the Buffalo Hunters~ Lost Cheyenne Tribes

The papoose was placed in pointed-end cradleboards to prevent injury to the baby should the board ever fall from the galloping horse.

The papoose's cradleboard was decorated to show the family's significant place within the tribe.

Leather, beads, fur and wood are used to make this lovely wall hanging cradleboard and doll. Cradleboard is 22" , doll including fur at top and bottom is 18". I bought this in Sisters, Oregon at the Buffalo Horn Fine Arts Gallery.

From my smoke free home.
